In music, there are different levels of intensity, volume, or sound strength that are used.  One neat thing about music is that all of these markings are universally understood.  In other words, if you learn what the dynamic markings mean in my music class, you will be able to read and use the same dynamic markings in music anywhere in the world.  The language that is used for these markings is Italian.

Students will learn to identify, match and translate the musical symbol to the Italian term and then assign an English musical meaning.

Play the two games below and by the end you should be an expert on dynamic markings and their meanings.

If you can score 6 out of 6 on the test at the bottom, you are a dynamic dynamo!  If you want an extra challenge, click on the "Welcome to Speller" game and try to spell the dynamics that the computer voice says.

Dynamics (volumes) we use in music.
